KETHEL CHICKEN DEEP FRY THEM Being born to a business man ,we never had any family trips. My father is always busy with his work  ,but he use to take us for dinners in hotels  at least twice a month. He teach me how to use a fork ,gave the chance to choose from menu and make us try different food. I am talking about pre-Covid story .This pandemic turns everything upside down. One day he said he will take us to a hotel where they serve small chickens. When it came to the table it fascinates me. It is really  small. It was decades before and i was young to realize its quails. But wasn't fascinated by eating it. So so spicy .The hotel wont serve normal waters with it ,they serve lemonade .What happened finally was we parcel the leftovers. It is Kethel's Chicken ,the famous chicken fry with spicy dry chili from Hotel  Rahmanyia. Hotel Rahmaniya is a chain of hotels in Trivandrum,they first launch this spicy and delicious famous chicken fry. This hotel was established way back in 19

For any occasion Chicken is considered as a core item in the Non-Veg category. There are an end number of Chicken recipes. But whenever I get a chance to cook chicken dishes i will go for something different from the normal chicken curry. For eating chicken we don't even need any special events or any occasion. Here i have a delicious Chicken recipe  with me. An Indian appetizer or a main course originated from Afghanistan named Afghani Chicken. The cream, butter and curd marinated creamy chicken recipe. Unlike the other Indian chicken dish ,this recipe has the least spices.



Afghani Chicken Recipe


For Marination 

Chicken-½ kg (bone or boneless)

Onion-2 big

Ginger-2tbsp

Garlic-2 tbsp

Chilli-3 nos (add according to your souvery buds)

Cashew-½ cup

Coriander Leaves-1 cup

Lemon Juice-1tbsp

Yogurt-3tbsp

Salt-as needed

Make a puree with above ingredients .This recipe doesn't  need much time for marination, but if you have time keep it for one hour. The chicken will become more tender.

Use butter or ghee for sautéing had used butter as well as ghee. Both taste different. You can use as your preference. Place the chicken marinated pieces on  a hot fry pan.


Garam Masala-2 tbsp

Cumin seeds-1tbsp

Afghani Chicken


These are the only spices used in this recipe. Believe me this is so delicious. Cook for 25 minutes till the chicken is cooked and the oil floats above. Coming to an end, Add 1 cup of fresh cream and cook for 5mints. It's ready 


Afghani chicken can be enjoyed with Paratha or naan or even rice. I prefer with naan for dinner .Then it will be the most satisfied dinner ever. Hope you enjoyed reading the recipe now try it and let me know in comments.
