DEEP FRY THEM
Stuffed Squid Recipe
Being in a family who runs a seafood business I am pretty much happy about the seafood I have eaten. Seriously I never bother to know the names of particular fish. I didn't even take the effort to know until I ate a fish cuisine from a family function years ago. After having the food I went back to the buffet counter and asked the serving person what fish is was. He replied its Red Snapper fillet. I have no idea what fish it was but the dish was so yummy ,in fact the fillet was so tender .It melts in my mouth. From that day onwards i started noticing the recipe and names of all seafoods.
Now I am here with a seafood dish , definity not with Red Snapper. Its Calamari or commonly called squid. Stuffed Squid recipe with a soya sauce dip .Squid can be cooked in many styles. Stuffed squids are basically a popular Goan appetizer. This is a Chinese style recipe . If you have a spicy and tangy palate, then the recipe wont disappoint. So lets start .
Marination:
Calamari/Squid-½ kg
Soya Sauce-3 tbsp.
Ketchup-3 tbsp.
Red chilly flakes-2 tbsp.
Pepper Powder- 2tbsp
Salt-as needed
Clean the squid baking the inner portion hollow. Marinate the squid for one hour. At least for half an hour. The tangy tasty soya sauce is the hero here.
Filling
Onion -2 big onion finely chopped
Ginger-1 tbsp. chopped
Garlic-1 tbsp. chopped
Bell Pepper-5 tbsp. (color of your choice)
Turmeric Powder -2tbsp
Pepper Powder-2 tbsp.
Ketchup-3tbsp
Soya sauce--3tbsp
Chopped tentacles and squid-1 cup
Oil-2tbsp
As the tentacles and squid pieces are finely chopped it only takes less than 7 minutes to get cooked.
Coating
Egg-2nos
Salt -as needed
Pepper-1tbsp
Flour-½ cup
Methods:
1.Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a skillet and add chopped onion ,sauté until translucent.
2.Add chopped ginger and garlic
3.Add salt, turmeric powder, crushed pepper & Bell pepper.
4.Add Soya sauce & ketchup.
5.Add Squid pieces and cook it for 7 minutes.
7.Once the filling is ready, fill inside the marinated squid.
8.Close the opening of squid with toothpicks.
9.Coat in egg and flour.
10.Deep fry each side.
11.Serve hot.
Next comes the star of the dish, the tangy dip.
Soya Sauce-3 tbsp.
Ketchup-3 tbsp.
Red chilly flakes-2 tbsp.
Pepper Powder- 2tbsp
Salt-as needed
Parsley -2 tbsp. chopped
Olives-2tbsp chopped
Pour over the fried squid and serve hot.
